I was asked to supply some photos of myself for some piano gigs I’m doing in the area. Naturally, I’m always the person taking the pictures, but today I needed someone to take my photos! When my son rolled in from school, I had already setup my Flashpoint XPro 600 and fitted it with the amazing Westcott Rapid Box. I had a pretty clear idea of how I wanted the photo to look, so we went with the Sony 85mm f1.8 lens. Then, it was just a matter of getting the lighting exactly right (think “moody”) and then finding a pose that didn’t make me look like I was trying too hard…(not sure if I actually achieved that, but that’s another topic). My son gave me some great feedback, and he did an expert job locking focus on my eyes and encouraging me to try some different poses. After about 45 frames, we had gotten some things we both really liked. From there, I brought everything into Capture One Professional and asked him to cull the images. He came up with his version of the ones he wanted to keep, and for the most part, I agreed with his selections. I made some edits and exported them out. I’d say he did a fantastic job taking photos of his dad…Great job, son!
